I’ve seen a lot of posts on tumblr lately about horse riding and equestrianism. Most of these posts are putting down other sports to make ours look better. I’ve seen so many posts saying that other sports aren’t as demanding as riding, or aren’t as dangerous or other sports don’t take as much devotion as riding. And I hate this. We’ve got to stop putting other sports down. Just because they don’t try and control a 1000 pound animal does not mean their sport isn’t physically demanding. Just because they don’t have to muck out a stable every day doesn’t mean that they aren’t devoted to their sport. They are devoted, but devotion sometimes comes in different forms. Don’t get me wrong, I think that riding is an incredibly difficult sport. But that doesn’t mean other sportsmen don’t work as hard as us. Because they do. Some work harder. Can we please stop all this bitching and just get on with loving our sport, whatever it may be?
